Intelligent Street Light

Back To Smart City   30 April 2564

Intelligent Street Light Bright street lighting improves road safety, helps to reduce crime, and makes cities more vibrant and attractive places for both businesses and communities. Traditional street lights, however, are a massive drain on public finances and a major contributor towards climate change. To save money and meet a growing public demand for energy efficiency, cities around the world are in the process of replacing old street lights with low-power LEDs. But this upgrade can’t be the end of the story for 21st century lighting systems. Even if modern cities never sleep, the people who live in them do, and lights don’t need to shine at the same intensity throughout the night. In the smart cities of the future, we need a way to manage when – and how brightly – public lights shine. With a network of sensors and intelligent management systems, AAEON Intelligent Lighting Controls can respond to real-time factors to dim or turn on and off lights on a system-wide, specified-group, or individual level. With this technology, we can begin shaping the smart cities of the future right here in the present.

Edge Computing

AAEON Atlas*, powered by Intel Vision Products, is a powerful edge computing node that consolidates data streams from smart lighting, environmental monitoring, and video sensors. Atlas works at the edge to allow city administrators to create a connected data hub that enables numerous new applications. For example, when the Atlas edge node is deployed in conjunction with a camera, network video recorder (NVR), and management system, it can power a citywide parking application. Car drivers can park on city streets without having to fish for change or pay at a meter—nearby smart cameras on streetlights can capture and classify images such as license plates using computer vision and charge the owner directly for the exact parking time via a gateway and cloud-based management system connected to a department of motor vehicles database.

Connected street light

Key Benefits

(1)Advanced controls

Inefficient timers can be replaced with flexible, individual controls

(2)Energy efficiency

By dimming unnecessary lights and diverting power away from faulty units, energy consumption can be slashed

(3)Improved maintenance

Maintenance work can be sped up through the real-time reporting of faults

(4)Financially prudent

Installing controls as part of a pre-arranged LED upgrade makes good business sense

(5)An IoT platform

Additional sensors and smart city infrastructure applications – such as smart parking, smart waste, and air sensors–can easily be added later

Edge-X, Central Management System (CMS)

Edge-X is a brand new Cloud Street Light monitoring and management solution that has developed three different architecture, single light control panel, loop monitoring panel and loop control panel according to the size of the field and market demand. Edge-X manages more than 100,000 streetlights at the same time. It supports both powerline and wireless network transmission and integrates all commercially available lamp caps. It is a highly compatible and scalable platform. Edge-X allows users to browse through the cloud platform to view the complete information on the street, and have a set of accurate diagnostic engine, if abnormal street lights immediately return, enabling managers to speed up the dispatch repair, easy access to street lights at any time to Enhance passers-by satisfaction and road safety.
